BUENSSOE STOCK SALES

FLOODS HAMPER USUAL PROCEEDINGS

Rain fell at intervals during (lie sales at Burnside to-day, and it was not until very late that sonic of the stocks could be sold. There were small yardings in every section, a large number of the animals to be sold not having arrived from the outlying districts. The butchers were well represented at the sales despite the wretched weather. At an early hour to-day the yards were practically under water, the creek, which flows close by, running over and causing small floods, hi the portions where the water had escaper! yellow mud and sand were left inches deep, making it very difficult to get a loothold. ' It was not until about 12.30 that tho sheep sale was commenced, while the fat cattle sale was to he started later. In consequence lew details of the sales can be given at present. Tho small yarding of sheep shoved mixed quality, and it was probable that before the sale ceased prices would have shown an improvement to those obtained last week. Alt that can he said regarding the lamb sale is that prices ranged from CGs to 30s tkl. From a distance a number of fat cattlo had to be brought into the yards. Tho store cattle entry numbered 150, and was made up of cows chiefly. There were, however, about a dozen medium two and three-year-old steers. The three-year-olds sold from £8 to £9, while good yearlings brought up to £5.
