: —Ministerial. —> Sir Joseph Ward, the Hon. P. Do la Perrelle, Mr F. Murdoch, M.P. (Marsden), Mr J. T. Hogan, M.P (Rangitikei) passed through Dunedin to Invercargill by this afternoon’s express. 'the Attorney-General (Hon. T. K. Sidey), who is at present in Dunedin, was to-day engaged in his duties as Chancellor of Otago University. Mr Sidey will proceed to Invercargill this evening or to-morrow morning to attend the banquet to Sir Joseph Ward. The .Minister of Railways (Hon. W. B. Taverner) was engaged to-day attending to private and departmental business. To-morrow he will leave for Invercargill to attend the banquet to Sir Joseph Ward. He will then make a tour through Central Otago. The Minister of Education (the Hon. 11. Atmore), who is at present in Southland, will attend the banquet to Sir Joseph Ward at Invercargill. En route to Dunedin on Thursday, the Minister will visit Baldutha and Gore. On Friday morning he will address the conference of the Otago branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute, and will then proceed to Christchurch. The Minister of Health (Mr A. J. Stall worthy), who is motoring from Timaru to-morrow, will arrive in Oamarn at 10 a.m., and will meet the Waitaki Hospital Board at the Borough Council Chambers. The Minister will then proceed to Invercargill by the express train, where he will attend the function in honour of Sir Joseph Ward. Mr Stall worthy will visit Dunedin on March 22, when he will arrive by motor about noon from Gore. He will leave the following morning to inspect the institutions at Seacliff and Waipiata, and will then continue his journey northwards.

Sir Thomas Mackenzie, who has been visiting Queenstown, came Jrom Gore to Dunedin this morning. Mr I?. Dutbie was a passenger for Auckland by the 11.34 train to-day.

Mv lleg Tapley left this morning by train for Blenheim. Mr E. 1. Halsted travelled to-day by train to Christchurch. ‘Mr J. E. Macassoy went to Timavu by the 11.34 train to-day. The mayor (the Hon. W. B. Taverner) was not in town to malic the official call on Commodore Swabcy, of HALS. Dunedin, but he took the opportunity of visiting the captain this morning., Mr Taverner was accompanied hv the dcputy-niavor (Mr J. S. Douglas'*.

Mr “Jock” 'Richardson, captain of tho 1924 All Blacks, and the former Alhambra and Otago representative player, will marry Miss Ela Hutchison at Knox Church, Parnell, to-morrow (wires our Auckland correspondent). At a meeting of tho committee of the Dunedin Amenities and Town Planning Society yesterday' the chairman (Mr Crosby Morris) extended a welcome to Miss Joachim, who recently returned from a trip Home. Mr Morris also congn itulated the Hon. G. M. Thomson on the honour conferred upon him at the last meeting of the New Zealand Institute, when be was awarded tho Hector medal. The speaker said it was pleasing to see that Mr Thomson s efforts had been appreciated. Miss Jennie Street, national field secretary for Groat Britain of the Christian Endeavour movement, arrives at Auckland to-day to commence- a tour of New Zealand in the interests of the C.E. work. She wTII arrive in Dunedin in June, .and will address many meetings here. Mr J. MTndoe, clerk of the Magistrate’s Court at Dunedin, who lias been promoted to the position of clerk of the Magistrate’s Court at Christchurch, was tliis morning met by tho stalls of tho Magistrate's and Supremo Courts, and made tho presentation ol an attache case a.s a, -token of their esteem and goodwill. In making the presentation Mr J. M. Adam ("registrar of the Supreme Court) to Mr M‘J ndoc’s many good qualities, ami of tho capable manner in which he had discharged his duties bore. Mr MTndoe, be said, was deserving of liis promotion, which was long overdue. Other members of the stabs expressed their good wishes towards Mr AlTndoc, who in reply gave thanks for tjic gilt and for the expressions of goodwill, and expressed appreciation of the manner in which all in tho offices had cooperated with him- in the carrying out of bis duties.

Prior to his departure for Invercargill this afternoon Mr A. E. Crimp, who has been 1 ransferred from the staff of the local Magistrate’s Court office to the office at Invercargill, was met this morning by the members -of the staff and presented with a, goldmounted fountain pen suitably inscribed as a token of their good wishes. Mr MTndoe (dork of the Magistrate’s Court) referred to the capable maimer in which Air Crimp had discharged his duties, and wished him success in his new sphere. Cabled advice was received yesterday by the Prime Minister the High Commissioner in London that the funeral of tlie late Chief Justice (Sir Charles Skcrroti), wli i died at sea while cn route for England by the Port Denison, will take place in England on March 20. Hitherto there lias been uncertainly as to whether the remains wore to he brought back lor interment in New Zealand. The .High Commissioner will act as a pall-boarcr, representing the New Zealand Govern-ment—-Press Association.

The death took place at Baldntha yesterday morning (writes our correspondent) of Airs Archibald Twaddle, an old and highly respected resident of the Clutha district. She was born in Edinburgh, and came to New Zealand when about four years ol age with her parents, Air and Mrs Alex. Hastio, well-known residents of Dunedin in the clays of the old horse-drawn cars. After her marriage to Air 'Twaddle she camo to the Clutha district over fifty years ago, and for tho past sixteen and a-half years has resided at Rosebank, Baldntha. She was pre-deceased by her husband about eleven years ago. A family of six sons and one daughter are left—-namely, Airs \Vm. Gilroy (Dunedinl, Messrs Alexander Twaddle ('Palmerston), James (Benliar), Thomas (Wangaloa). Archie, Arthur, and William (Baldntha).
