MILTON MAGISTRATE’S COURT

The monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held in die court house yesterday, Mr 11. J. Dixon, S.M., presiding. John Robertson l.’ariane was charged' on two informations with breaches of the Railway Department’s regulations —(1) Behaving in an offensive manner in a railway carriage on the eight express from Dunedin on February 23, and (2) wil». using indecent lamigage on the train on the same date.—Mr D, J. Sumpter appeared for the accused, who pleaded guilty. Constable M'Quilty stated the case on behalf of the police. Jt appeared Unit on the evening of the alleged offence Constable Kill:, of Invercargill, was travelling in plain clothes in Hie same carriage as the accused. A number of ladies wore also in the carriage. The accused was under the in linen oo of liquor, and used offensive language. When remonstrated with by Constable Kirk he became abusive and used the indecent bmguage.— The Magistrate remarked on the serious nature of tho offence and fined tho accused £5 or a month’s imprisonment.
