AMERICAN PLANE CRASHES FOURTEEN DEATHS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, NEW YORK, March 17. At Newark (New Jersey) fourteen persons were killed on Sunday when a metal piano crashed near hero. When the plane crashed against a freight ear the engines failed, and the pilot was compelled to make a forced landing, from which only two escaped. One of the survivors was Lou Eooto, a former ace of the Eord "Hying fleet, who piloted the previous flight of the plane, which had been named “ Miss Newark ”.by Mrs Calvin Coolidge. The second survivor was Belmont Parsons, of Brooklyn. Both escaped death because they were seated ‘in the twin pilot’s seat 4ft above the cabin, which was a tangled mass of steel and human bodies tom limb from limb. Both were injured, but it is believed that they will recover. The crash followed a take-off with passengers who were paying £1 each for the trip. . Three massive 220 h.p. Wright whirlwind motors wore hurled 50ft. The tragedy is the greatest in the history of neavier-than-air craft in Lite United States. —United Service.
