AUSTRALIAN COAL
HEW SOUTH WALES Gfl(S(s STATEMENT BY CHAIRMAN, Press Association—-By Telegraph—Copyright, SYDNEY, February 1. (Received February 1, at 9.45 a.ni.) Mr C M'Dona.'d, chairman of the Northern Collieries Association, stated that unless the crisis in the coal industry quickly ended a number of Newcastle and Maitland Collieries would have to close down. Tenders were being called by the South Australian Government for the supply of 800,000 tons of coal. The only hope of the New South Wales collieries securing the tender was by a substantial reduction in price.
