A little while ago two working men met in the Hlaek Country, and after the usual “ Good morning ” one of them remarked to the other; “I know what thce’st ’ad for thy breakfast.” “Than doesn’t,-’ came the reply. “I do,” answered his companion. “ Well, an’ wimt’n I ’ad?” “ Why, a new laid e rr t r.” “ How’s thee knowp” “ Why, I can sec some of the yolk in th’ beard,” “ Gcr off!” came the reply. “J had that a fortnight ago.”
