SAlLED.—December 21, Paua, oil tanker, (4.10 a.m.), 1,200 tons, Paterson, for Wellington. ■ The oil tanker Paua, -which arrived hero early yesterday morning, completed discharging her bulk oil last evening, and sailed this morning for Wellington. The Katoa 1 leaves Bluff this , afternoon for Dunedin, where she is due to-ihorroV to load out for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Opihi left Westport yesterday forißluff, Dunedin, and Lyttelton., . The Gale loaded general cargo and sailed last night for Wanganui via ports. ~' ; o ; ’ ' _ The Karctu, which was delayed at Lyttelton on account, of. t tfda, leaves there on,Mondayjfpr.Duiiedin, having Australian, cargo to discharge here. The." £?!; -and D.- Line steamer- Port Caroline' is' expected to, arrive -at Opua from Australia on January 23 to load for,‘London and West Coast ports of ; the United Kingdom. Tho steamer will visit Auckland a few days later to .continue,.loading, and-will proceed from that port to Gisborne and southern, ports, sailing finally about tho middle of February. Ca Wad news has been received l by, the Union Company that tho Waiotapu left Calcutta On December, 15, for Penang and Singapore .to complete loading lor Lyttelton,i Timaru, Dunedin, Bluif, Wellington', and Auckland. She is duo at Lyttelton about the middle of January. The C. and D. Lino advises that tho Port Hardy was duo at New Plymouth yesterday from Launceston to .commence loading for London. From the Taranaki port the vessel will proceed to Wanganui roadstead, Pictony Wellington, Port Chalmers, and Lyttelton. She is to-sail finally, from Lyttelton on January 11 for London, via P.ananm. TSIE FERRY . SERVICE. Tho Maori, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 7 a.m. to-day, and passengers and mails connected with the express. TAMAROA’S ITINERARY, Tho Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Tamaroa arrived at Auckland from London, via Wellington, last Monday morning. She berthed to unload 3,5U0 tons of general merchandise, tho remainder of her cargo. Afterwards tho vessel will load 25,000 boxes of butter at Auckland, and then leave for Opua on December 27 to load 8,000 freight carcases of meat. From Opua she will go to Gisborne and Wellington for further loading, and on January 10 she will return to Auckland to load another 63,000 boxes of butter, 14,000 crates of cheese, 6,500 freight carcases of meat, and also general cargo. With passengers and mail she is to bo despatched from Auckland fop Southampton and London, via Panama, at daybreak on January 19.

THE PORT ALMA. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line’s new motor ship P.ort Alma, on her maiden voyage, left London for New Zealand last Friday. The vessel is the latest addition to the company’s fleet She was built, at Newcastle-on-Tynei by Swan, Hunter, and Wigham Richardson. Her tonnage is about 8,00') gross, and she is similar in size and , design to the Port Dunedin and oth-.r Port motor ships ; that have visited Auckland. The Port . Alma is bringing general merchandise for discharge at Dunedin, Lyttelton, and New Plymouth. ; : AUXILIARY, SCHOONER HUIA. The auxiliary schooner Huia was to sail yesterday for Dunedin with a cargo of explosives , ex the Port Wellington. From Dunedin the Huia will proceed to Grevmouth to load timber early in January .for Sydney. , The American Line Steam Ship Corporation, .’New, York, has contracted for : the construction of a passenger and cargo'vessel .to cost 7,000,000 dollars, ' pf. which 75 per cent, is to be lent by the‘ Shipping Board under the Jones)Vhito, Shipping , Act, (states ‘Jfairnlav !).• The> vessel■' referred - to is to i be .employed, between United States ports • on the Atlantic and the Pacific coasts through the. PORT ALMA FROM LONDON. Messrs J. W. Swift and Co. advise that) the motor ' ship Port Alma left London on December 16 for P.ort Chalmers direct, via Panama. She is duo hero on January 19, and then proceeds to Lyttelton and Now Plymouth for final discharge. 1 She then loads homeward on tho New Zealand coast,. and sails about the third week in February. PORT CURTIS TO SAIL. The local agents' for the Commonwealth and Dominion Line . steamer Port Curtis have received advice that the vessel, which is loading New Zealand , products at Napier, •is expected to leave that port at 6 o’clock to-hight for New York,'Boston, and Halifax. MAHANA FROM AUSTRALIA. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion, Company advises that the Mahana is duo an Port Chalmers’,on January ,17 from Australia to commence Homeward loading. The vessel will sail about January 19 for Bluff, Gisborne, Wellington, and, Wanganui roadstead to complete loading. She will leave tho roadstead about February 9 for Loudon, via'Panama. THE LATE CzAPTAIN THOMSON. The flags of the local shipping companies’ offices and of the .
