HOSPITAL AFFAIRS

MONTHLY BOARD MEETING The monthly meeting of the Hospital. Board, held last night, was attended by Messrs \V. E. S. Knight (chairman), G. Galloway, W. Morgan, J. AV. Dove, A. F. Quelch, D. M ? Lennan, Dr W. Newlamls, Mrs AV. Boss, and Miss Runciman. MENTAL PATIENTS. The Director-General (Dr Valintine) wrote stating that the sum of £450 had been approved for the provision tor mental cases in Dunedin Hospital. The Director-General further wrote to say that other hospitals in the large centres had made provision for two rooms, whereas the Otago Board’s plan showed that only one room was provided. He would be glad to be assured that the medical superintendent had considered this point and approved ot the accommodation being sufficient and satisfactory in every way. • The letter was received. MASSAGE COURSE.The applications of G. M. Galbraith, Jessie E. Napier, and Freda M. Bett for enrolment as massage students were received. BEQUEST. Messrs Aspinall and Sira forwarded a deed of release and indemnity for execution by the board in the estate of the late C. G. V. Leijon. A final payment of £-390 6s lid was due to the board. FELICITATIONS. Tho Chairman extended seasonable greetings to members of the board, to the medical, nursing, and clerical staffs, and to all those ivho had assisted the board during the year.—The chairman’s good wishes were reciprocated by Mr Quelch.
