THE LATE MR MONDY

(Contributed by Sir Robkbt Stout.) No ou© who know Mr Mondy' but will deeply regret the loss of a dear, friend and. a good citizen* He was born in Australia, and his lather was accidentally killed near Melbourne. In 1866 ho came with his mother, brother, and sister to Dunedin, and the two boys were in my class in the North Dunedin School. He was a most'attentive pupil, and was a f)rize man in 1867. He was most conscientious and ever active. He became my clerk and afterwards my partner. He was an excellent solicitor, and had charge of the conveyancing department in our firm. I am afraid that his hard work hastened his end. No one ever questioned his work and he was kind and considerate to all. Ho had a great loss in his life in the death of his only son in our Great War, and quite recently his aged mother departed. In our record of good and noble citizens ho occupies no mean position.
