PANTOMIME AND PICTURES
DOUBLE ATTRACTION AT RECENT A programme of special interest will be presented at the Regent Theatre to-morrow afternoon. ‘ Hie Big Killing,' starring those popular comedians, Wallace Beery and Raymond Hatton, will head the picture programme. The collaboration of this entertaining pair has resulted in some hilarious comedies, and this is considered to cap the lot. The story tells of the Beagles and the Hicks, who have been enjoying interfamily feud wars for years, but a short period of peace is interrupted when a romance between young Jim Hicks and tho daughter of the house of Beagle is uncovered. Tho warring is renewed. Old Man Hicks sends his son, George, to town for powder, and George finds a carnival in full swing. Ho is impressed with the abilities of Powder-Horn Pete and Dead-Eye Dan (Berry and Hatton), billed as sharpshooters, although, neither could hit an elephant with a guitar. Ho hires these two pseudo-exports to augment his father's “ army,” without telling them the nature of their employment. Pete and Dan are informed by Old Man Hicks that they are to kill some Beagles, and they, thinking that ho means some dogs, readily agree. They start out alone to find, to their alarm, that the Beagles are seven . husky mountaineers, -thirsting for the blood of the imported “ killers.” The Christmas festival will bo celebrated in fitting manner at the Regent. An elaborate production of the eyerp'opnlar pantomime, 1 Dick Whittington,’ will provide something out of the ordinary. The pantomime will be staged on a lavish scale. Several talented performers have been allotted tho principal roles, and there will bo a ballet and chorus of over forty, including over twenty Dunedin children. The presentation will also introduce the Sydney Regent Ballet again, and a delightful entertainment is assured.
