BURNS CLUB
There was a fair attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Burns Club held in tho Early Settlers’ Hall last evening. Tho president (Mr J. liastic), in opening the programme, moved a resolution of sympathy with tho Royal Family in tho King’s illness, all present standing and singing tho National Anthem. Before introducing tho performers ilio President extended tho compliments of the season to all present, after which the concert programme was commenced. Tho following items were given:—Bagpipe selection, Piper W. _ Budge; song, ■’ Eriskay Love Lilt,' Miss M. Howden; humorous recitation, Miss Kitty Ecklioff; song, ‘ Border Ballad, ’ Mr Tom White; violin solo, Mr RnfFell; song, 1 Happy Song,’ Miss Helen Wilson; song, ‘ Yeoman’s Wedding,’ Mr W. lluifoll; song, ‘Hame o’ Mine,’ Miss L Blackwood; recital, Miss Rona Scott; opening chorus from ‘Tom Jones,' choir; song and chorus, ‘ West Country Lad,’ Mr Los. Stubbs and choir; chorus, ’Glass of Fashion,’ choir; song and chorus, ‘ On a January Morn,’ Mr T. White and choir; chorus, ‘Hurry, Bustle,’ choir; waltz song from ‘Tom Jones,’ Miss Valda M'Ourdy and choir; Fong and chorus, ‘ Green Ribbon,’ Miss Doris M'Cnrdy and choir; madrigal, ’Here's a Paradox,’ choir. The choir was under the direction of Mr John Enoch, and tho accompaniments wore played by Mrs Leech and Miss Erua Fountain.
