AUCKLAND - The fifth round of matches was commenced in fine weather. * Eden. 287 for five wickets (Postles '6B, G. L. Weir 62 not out, A. F. Weir 53), beat University. Ponsonby, 344 (Smith 10 not out), met Y.M.C.A., 10 for one wicket. Grafton, 329 (Langridge 91, Sloman 51, Allcott 50), met United Suburbs. North Shore, 254 for nine wickets (Prater 110, Player 64), met Parnell. For Parnell Macallan took five wickets for 48 runs. WELLINGTON Owing to the sodden state of the grounds no games were played. CHRISTCHURCH, The wickets, and outfield were heavy after the rain that fell during the whole of the week. Old Collegians batted first against St. Albans, and scored 188 (Hamilton 63, Bruges 36). Bowling, Woods took six wickets for 51. St. Albans lost three wickets for 21. Old Boys met with early disaster against Riccarton, and were all out for 117 (Burns 44). Bowling, Rix took five wickets for 46. Riccarton fared little better, being dismissed for 172. Merritt took eight wickets for 96. Linwood, batting against West Christchurch, were all out for 115 (F. A. Smith 34). Bowling, Findlay took six wickets for 42 and Newman three for 18. West Christchurch lost four wickets for 98 runs (Haynes 42). East Christchurch made the respectable score of 231 against Sydenham (Mullan 32, Brosnahan 56, Kennedy 39). Sydenham lost one wickets for 23.
