MRS BUCKLEY AT THE CONTROLS FIRST LADY PILOT OVER THE STRAIT [Per United Press Association.] BLENHEIM, December 17. In tho course of their honeymoon trip Captain Maurice Buckley and Mrs Buckley arrived at Blenheim from Feildiug yesterday afternoon in an Avro-Avian machine lent for tho occasion by Captain Ken Hall, of Hororata. Flying conditions wore perfect. After leaving Fcilding Captain Buckley handed over the controls to his bride, who flew tho machine all the way to Blenheim, thus achieving the distinction of becoming the first woman to pilot a plane’ across Cook Strait. Tile young couple wore warmly welcomed to Blenheim, and took off for Christchurch amid showers of confetti.
