ROYAL MALE CHOIR
The composition of the -programme to be presented by the Royal Male Choir on Saturday and Monday next in the Princess Theatre shows a wise discrimination for balance. The makeup should havo a very wide appeal to all musical tastes, varying as it does from sea chanties to Franz Schubert’s glorious part song ‘Omnipotence,’ Schubert’s ‘ Rondo ’ from ‘ Trio in B Flat,’ for piano, violin, and ’cello, will be performed by Dr V. E. Galway and Messrs J. A. Wallace and P. Palmer. The festive season will be heralded by what has become quite a favourite with subscribers, ‘ Ring Out, Wild Bells,’ arranged by Percy Fletcher. Another serious number is the ‘Hymn Before Action ’ (Davies), which always receives a good hearing. In lighter contrast is ‘ Love’s Benediction,’ an Irish folk song arranged by A. J. Silver, the solo part being allotted to Mr Reg. James; also ‘The Sea Hath its Pearls’ (Pinsuti). Tho choir’s quartet, Messrs Jones, Blake, Paterson, and M'Allum, will bo heard in Bullard’s ‘ Winter Song,’ and Messrs Bachop and M'Kechnio will sing ‘ Crucifix,’ duet by Faure, with ’cello and violin obbligato. Tho choir soloists for this concert are Messrs' F. H. Williams, Geo., Dunn, and Jas. Paterson, L.A.8., while the chantymen aro represented by Mr G. Stuart Thomson and Mr G. Dunn. The society is fortunate in securing tho services of Miss Molly Vickers, L.A.8., who will be heard in several numbers. The public’s attention is directed to the fact that, on account of His Majesty’s not being available, two concerts are to be given in tho Priiicess Theatre, and as the accommodation will _ more than satisfy subscribers’ _ bookings tickets at popular prices will be on sale to the general public, thus affording an opportunity to hear the Royal Male Choir of over seventy voices. The box plan opens on Thursday next, as advertised.
