THREE NEW GRASS TRACKS
The Manawatu Racing Club threw open to trainers on Saturday morning the three new grass tracks taken over two years ago. The occasion was marked by one of the club’s president’s (Mr C. Louisson) horses being the first to gallop thereon. This addition gives tiro club seven grass tracks for gallops apart from the plough and sand tracks, and these should meet the requirements of the 100 or more horses in training at the present time. The cost of the preparation of the new tracks is estimated at £2,500. Considerably extra work was entailed as the result of the trenches, etc., made by trainees iu camp at Awapuni in war time.
