ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
GIRL DROWNED AT ALEXANDRA* At Alexandra on Saturday afternoon Miss Zell a Watts, an employee at Mr IJlack’s tea rooms, aged about nineteen years, whoso parents reside _at Alexandra, was drowned whilst bathing in a pool in a stream apart from the main current of the MoJyneux River, a little distance below the Alexandra Bridge. Some time elapsed before help was forthcoming, and Mv Ernest Lawry, on arrival, immediately dived in and brought the body to the surface. Dr Gladstone and others made every effort to restore animation for over an hour, hut without success. Itis considered that the intense cold of tho stream caused tho bather to take cramp. A younger sister who accompanied the deceased gave the alarm.
