A SUMNER RESIDENT’S LOSS. A well-known Sumner resident had an unfortunate experience the other night. He, with other "gallants,” took everything in their stride at the side shows during the local gala. With his “ Loewe ” in his mouth and his attention on the little dark elusive squares, he was oblivious to all around him. Some connoisseur grasped the opportunity of availing himself of the “ local’s ” pouch and tobacco, Richmond Best. Later, at the club, the poor unfortunate made known his loss, and, to use his own words, said: “ It was not the ‘ hlanky ’ pouch he was worried about, but the tobacco.” His friends soon rallied round him, and he had sufficient Richmond Best to carry on with.~[AdTt.]
