BROKEN BONDS
DIVORCE APPLICATIONS GRANTED Two applications for divorce were heart! by His Honour Mr Justice Mnc* Gregor this morning. POWEJjL v. POWELL. Jluby Powell sought a divorce from Robert Ernest .Powell on the ground of a separation order which had been in force for over three years. Mr L. G. Cameron appeared lor the petitioner. Petitioner stated in evidence that she was married in 1912. There were three children. In 1924 she obtained a separation order against her husband at Dunedin. She had not since lived with him, nor had he contributed towards her maintenance. After hearing corroborative evidence. His Honour made a decree nisi, to be moved absolute after the expiration of three calendar months. Interim custody of the children was granted to petitioner, and respondent was ordered to pay costs on the lowest scale.
SMAILL v. SMAILL,
Winifred Smaill (petitioner) v. Charles Smaill (respondent), petition for divorce on the ground of a separation order. Mr H. Brasch appeared for the petitioner, and Mr F. Forrester entered an appearance on behalf of the respondent. . Petitioner stated in evidence that she was married to respondent in 1922 at Kaitangata. They afterwards lived at Dunedin, there being one child. In November, 1923, they agreed to separate, and an agreement was drawn up. She had not since lived with respondent. After hearing corroborative evidence His Honour granted a decree nisi, to be moved absolute after the expiration of three calendar months. Petitioner was granted interim custody of the child, and respondent was ordered to pay costs on tho lowest scale.
