PROGRESS OF LOCAL FILM MANY AMUSING SCENES Aw t*. . During the last few days Air Rndali Hayward’s moving picture company has been busily at wo-k in and about tho city making scenes for iho forthcoming comedy production, ‘ A Daughter of Dunedin.’ On Saturday last special scenes were limed at the Hunt Glub’s sports mooing, much to tho entertainment ol the miockers. Some twenty young ladies fashionably attired, wero photographed as groups of spectators watching the events, expressing various emotions as their, imaginary bits were won and lost. Air Norman Stairr, as tho ambitions young reporter of tbo “AVaipnkatitrcc Times,” in soaicb of copy lor tbo “social” column, revealed some considerable talent for comedy roles. Miss Dale Austen, in a smart riding habit, was mounted on the wellknown jumper “Mystery,” and appeared in a riding scene, Air “Till” Bennett.

Yesterday, the municipal fire departnnmt under Superintendent Napic", staged a spectacular “turnout” of Duredin’s firc-fighf ing forces for a scene in the film. As a volunteer fireman of sorts, Air Scurr again convulsed il.e onlookers with some • lever pieces of foolery. The large crowd that soon gathered seemed to forget its business of the moment to view tbo picture company at work. Scenes are being produced to-day in various parts of tho town, including tome in front of tbo Grand Hotel and inside it (by courtesy of'Air Paape). To-morrow, special arrangements have been made with the City Council to film a “ cod ” election scene in frontof the Town Hail steps at 12.30. Over 2,000 people took part,in a similar scene as this last week in Invercargill, while in Napier the crowd was to great that the tram service was .docked for half an hour, the entire r.olice force and two traffic inspectors being on hand to divert the traffic.
