FAMOUS ACTRESS COHiKG One of tho most important theatrical engagements ever entered into by the J. G. Williamson, Ltd., management is that of Miss Margaret Bannsrman, who is to make her first appearance in Dunedin next Saturday mglit ;u His Majesty’s Theatre. Margaret Baunerman has for many years been I lie idol of London audiences, and she will lie presented,—together with Anthony Prinsep’s LoiTßon company, in three of the most notable comedy-dramas staged during recent years. The season will lie inaugurated with a proiiiitioii lor the first time here of Walter Hackclt’s brilliant and successful pis’,’ ‘ Other Men’s Wives,’ which will ha r ollowcd by ‘Our Bettors’ and ‘Diplomacy.’ Miss Bannerman is a Canud.an by birth, and made her first appearance on the stage at the Adelphi Theatre, London, in 1925. The first appearance of Miss Bannerman in Australia was the signal for an unpivee--dented demonstration, and at the close of the performance she was loudly cheered by the audience for her brilliant acting. The ‘ Sydney Herald ’ critic wrote the following;—“The dominant impression left by the performance on Saturday night is the brilliant success of Miss Margaret Bannerman. The English actress, a handsome blonde, slight and graceful in figure, carried the house by her polished art.” Miss Bannerman will be supported by Anthony Prinsep’s complete company of London artists, the_ majority of whom were associated with her in London successes. ‘Other Men’s Wives ’ was specially written for Miss Bannerman by Mr Walter Hackctt, and Tt' naturally gives her great scope for the display of her artistry as a com-: edy and dramatic artist.
