One ol the 109 oil paintings in the Fine Arts Exhibition now open in the Pioneers’ Hall was the first to be sold after tho opening last night. It. is a landscape of masterly composition by Arch. F. Xicboll,_ entitled ! Summer Evening,’ distinguishable by its freedom from superfluity. Another fine bit of work to immediately find a purchaser is N. Welsh’s water-colour entitled ‘ Afternoon Shadows.’ There was also a sale in the art crafts section, a Chinese lacquer lamp shade by Dorothy .Tenkin being promptly selected,
