BAPTIST SALE OF WORK

A very succcsful sale of work in connection with the South Dunedin Baptist Church was held in the Coronation Hall, St. Kilda, yesterday, being opened by Mr 11. W. Hall (mayor of St. Kilda). In his opening remarks Mr Hall paid a tribute to the influence of the church in the community, and said that the community would be unspeakably poorer if deprived of all the good for which the churches stand. The various stalls were well stocked and attractively arranged, the general effect being very pleasing. The stallholders were as follows: Plain work. Mesdames Clark, Johnston, J. Bond, Hotting. • Produce: Mesdames Craig, Berry, Hinton, Bean, Miss Hackley. Yo Olde Clo’s: Mesdames ix, Roberts, Duncan, Robb, and M'Koich. Sweets: Mrs Jenkins a,nd B.C. members. Ice Cream: Mrs Peacock. Afternoon tea, etc.-: Mesdames Ockwell, MTvettrick, J. Bond, sen., Carter. Oliver. Fancy: Mesdames Wakelin, Ashton, Darracott, R. Bond, Miss Ashton. Cakes- Mesdames Todd, Hackley. Tombs, Misses lugs. Xmas tree: Mesdames E. T. Johnston, Orrarod, and Miss Clark. Men’s: Mr E. Ormrod and B.C. members.

During the evening an enjoyable programme was rendered by Misses Ashton, " Wheeler, Clifford, and Johnston, Mrs Tyrrell, Mrs Peacock, and Mr M'Lintock. Miss B. A-shton played the accompaniments. Mr Hinton and Miss lugs judged the flower competition.
