BRITISH TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA [Pek United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, November 9. The British team left by the Marama Tliis afternoon for Sydneyite commence )u Australian tour of three months, riiree weeks will bo spent in South kfrica before returning to England. In a farewell message the manager, Mr H. Anthony Subelli, who is also the official representative of the Lawn Tennis Association at Home, said: “ 1 wish to express great appreciation rf the arrangements made by _ the Now Zealand Lawn Tennis Association and by tlie associations in Wellington, Auckland, Canterbury, and Rotorua in connection with our matches and comfort and entertainment during- tjio visit. We wish to thank most sincerely the officials, private individuals, players, and the public for their very land reception of us on all occasions. Nobody could have wished for nice enthusiastic spectators or more sporting opponents. We have two regrets—that the match at Wellington fell through owing to truly appalling weather and that" the visit to Now Zaeland was so short. Good-byo and good luck to all. 1 ’ Mr Sabelli was disinclined to comment upon the relative styles and standards of play at Home and in the dominion. It was “ not his job,” ho said. He realised that New Zealanders, thus early in the season, could not he- expected to produce their highest form. They certainl.v knew the game, but they lacked experience of all styles of play. It was with the object of securing wider experience that the British had been sent abroad.
