GIRLS’ GLUB BANQUET . Under the auspices of the Oufcram Girls’ Club tbe closing meeting of the year took the form of a banquet, the gathering being held in the Outram Church Hall on Wednesday evening last. The Rev. David and Mrs Campbell, who have just returned from a six months’ holiday in Australia, were the special guests of the evening. In his opening remarks the Rev. R. S. Keene (who has acted as supply) expressed his pleasure at the safe return of Mr and Mrs Campbell after their trip abroad. Pie referred in complimentary terms to Mr and Mrs Campbell’s many years of service in the past, and predicted even greater achievements in the davs that lie ahead.

In his reply, after returningthanks, Mr Campbell gave a, racy and interesting address, covering some of the chief items of interest of their travels. He spoke of his impressions of the great continent of Australia, and also the impressions he has heard in Australia of New Zealand and the New Zealanders; and lie paid a very line tribute to the loyal and efficient service he had seen displayed in church work in Tasmania, South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales.

On adjournment to the supper room, the tables were found to bo laden with good things, reflecting great credit on the ability and generosity of the ladies and gentlemen in charge. The loyal toast being duly honoured, in an effective • little speech, Miss M'Caw proposed the toast of “The Church,” and to that Mr A. Grant (session dork) replied. Miss A. Blair proposed the toast of ‘'The Bible Classes,” and to that Mr 11. Walker replied. In proposing the. toast of the P.W.M.U., Miss J- Hunting eulogised the efforts of the Indies in their missionary enterprise, and in a helpful and illustrative speech Mrs A. Grant replied. The Girls’ Club was toasted by Mrs T. Grant, who spoke in terms of the virtue and value of such a club. The Boys’ Club was toasted by Mr G. Fleming, the replies being given by Miss Fraser and Mr Ken. Walmslcy, who eulogised the outstanding services rendered by Miss Tui M'Donakl. Mr W. Bathgate proposed the toast of “ Outside Helpers,” and to that Mr I)e Kara replied. ; In moving a vote of thanks to the Girls’ Executive, the Bov. David Campbell paid a tribute to the,work and worth of Miss Fraser, who acted as chairwoman to the banquet, and who has given ungrudging service. throughout the year During tho evening Miss Johnston was presented with a bouquet in recognition of her services as physical instructions durinfe the winter. By their contributions Misses M'Caw, Blair, M'Donakl, F. Walker, and A. Turner added to the harmony of the evening. ■
