The town cleric (Mr G. A. Lewin) returned yesterday afternoon from Wellington. Mr I. Sutherland Boss, president of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Association, returned yesterday after a visit to Auckland. Dr It. Jtischorcl, surgeon on the whaler C. A. Larsen, passed through Dunedin yesterday on hie way to join his ship at Stewart Island, from where the Larsen will leave on Monday for the Ross Sea. Mr J. L. Bruce, agent for the Lynch. Family of Bellringers, is at present in town making arrangements for their forthcoming visit.

Mr E. Douglas Tayler, Director of Musical Education in New Zealand, left Dunedin for Wellington by the 8.40 (rain this morning. Mr H. Q. Clark, M.A., 8.D., Dip. Ed., minister-elect for the Church of Christ, Dominion road, Auckland, is travelling from Australia, via Bluff, and is expected iu Dunedin at the week-end. A public meeting, at which ho will speak, is being arranged by the local Churches of Christ for Tuesday night at St. Andrew Street Church. Mr Clark was a missionary in China when tho recent trouble caused the Consul to close the elation. While awaiting reopening Mr Clark went to Talc University and took hi* B.D. degree, with the distinction of gaining first place in his year. He has sine* visited England and Continental Europe an| i,ho Australian Slates studying religious an( social conditions. Mr Clark has had a dii> languished scholastic career in arie, science education, and divinity at Melbourne ana Yale. Ho was for a time a teacher in Scotch College, Melbourne, and is a most popular preacher. He is also an enthusiast in athletics, football, cricket, and tennis. He has gamed many successes in ctos*country running in Australia, notably in the V.M.C.A. live-mile interstate contest*.

Mr Robert Keenan Simpson was this morning admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court by HE Honour Mr Justice MacGregor. Visitors to the Grand Hotel include Dr E. Rjscbord .
