SCARLET FEVER
EPIDEMIC IH CANTERBURY

CHRISTCHURCH, November 9. The scarlet fever epidemic in North Canterbury lias exceeded the normal time of epidemics of this nature, and the Medical Officer of Health has found it necessary to issue the following notice .
“ Seventy-five per cent, of the cases reported are children under fourteen years. Roughly twice as many cases have occurred in the ago period of five to ten years as in the ago period of ten to fifteen. The majority of the cases have occurred in the metropolitan area, and it is proposed to exclude from the schools in this area, all children in the infant classes and standard I. All kindergartens are also to bo closed. Parents are urged to keen their children away from Sunday schools, places of public entertainment, parties, or any other indoor, congregations of young people.” . . . '
