INTERNATIONAL FAIR

Y.W.C.ft. EFFORT Tho annual international lair lieici under the auspices of the \.W.C.A. was opened by Sir Charles btathani yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance of Iriends and others interested in the work of the association. Mrs W. B. Taverner was in the chair, and extended a hearty welcome to Sir Charles, adding that on many occasions he had shown his interest in the work of tho association. A message of goodwill was received from Miss Law, of Wellington, the association’s national general secretary in Now Zealand. Tho stallholders are:—Flower, Mrs John Wilkinson; books and fancy work, Miss Hutchinson; needlework, hoard of governors, represented by Mrs Bridgman and Miss C. Little; sweets, hostel girls; Maori house ( novelty), Girl Citizens; marmalade, soft drinks, and ice creams, Pioneer Club; produce, Mrs W. Stevenson and Girls’ Work Committee; bluebird stall (Indian work), Bluebird Club; bran tub (world fellowship), To Taumata Club.

A special feature was the decorations of the hail and the tea rooms, the work on the latter being under the supervision of the Cafeteria Committee, Jed by Mrs David Todd. The result was a replica of a Japanese tea garden. The fair was continued this after-: noon, and,will conclude to-night with a fancy dress dance.
