'THE STUDENT PRINCE'
OPENING TO-MORROW NIGHT. Castles, streets, towns, villages—those are some of the things built for a single motion picture in what will probably prove the most elaboratelymade motion picture for years to come. The production is ‘The Student Prince,’ the super-prodnetion, with Ramon Nova rro and Norma Shearer in the leading roles. ‘The Student Prince’ was filmed as a new departure on the screen; a simple love story of a boy and girl, but set in surroundings that depict an entire nation. Several thousand people appear in its massive scenes; in the colourful coronation ceremonies; the great public demonstrations of welcome to a new’ ruler; revels of university students in the inns of Heidelberg, and the making of a new monarch, all w’orked out with absolute true fidelity to life. The Famous story of the unhappy Prince Karl Heinrich and his pathetic sweetheart of the inn arc told just as it was told on the stage, but with a background that the stage could never reproduce. Mr Novarro plays Karl Heinrich, and Miss Shearer plays Kathio in the film story, which opens at the Octagon Theatre to-morrow night. An added attraction should be the presentation of the famous musical score of * The Student Prince ’ the Octagon Orchestra, under the direction of M. Do Rose.
