MAGNA CHARTA FLOUTED
WARNING TO ELECTORS. When a minority organisation extorts pledges from members of Parliament to support that organisation and to place biased legislation on the statute books against tho will of the people—then the principles of British justice founded on Magna Gharta are m extreme jeopardy. It may come as a surprise to many New Zoalanders to know that such a menace exists to-day-—that an organisation is at work to betray the wishes of the people. The secret is no longer a secret—the New .Zealand Alliance stands guilty and apparently unashamed.
At recent elections the people of New Zealand voted against the attempt to force Prohibition upon a law-abiding Biitish community. The ballot box has shown conclusively that New Zealanders are opposed to tyrannical restriction of their personal liberty. Not content wdth such a decided expression of opinion, the New' Zealand Alliance has sought to thwart the electors by extorting secret pledges from members of the House of Representatives. This is not government—not the British ideal of government at anv rate. This is “ Super-Govern-ment,” which throttles Parliament—a fanaticism which, if not curbed, will seriously dislocate the mechanism of politics. You can express your disapproval of these tactics by voting Continuance at the forthcoming elections.—[Advt,]
