RING IN BRITAIN POST OFFICE PURCHASES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, July 28. The Select Committee on the Esti mates reports that, excepting two firms, the manufacture of cable is ip the bands of a ring from which the Post Office buys £1,000,000 worth an uually at a higher price than the ring quotes to the colonial and Irish Free State Governments. It is of the opinion that the Post Office ought to have a free hand to accept foreign tenders if the British prices are excessive. —Australian ' Press Association-United Service.
