AMATEUR CYCLING
TWO-MILE RACE. A two-mile amateur cycling handicap was held on the Caledonian Ground during the interval in the League football match between City and Kaikorai. There, were eight starters, and the result was as follows: H. Cooper (60yds) 1 J. Ewing (150yds) 2 C. Lucas (80yds) 3 Also started: A. Rosenbrock 30yds, I M'Millan 120yds, R. Johnson 240yds, T. Dillon 240yds, and J. Cruickshanks 270yds. In the early stages of the race there was no change in position. At the beginning of the last lap Cooper was leading, with Dillon, Johnson, and Lucas following him in the order mentioned. In the rack stretch Cooper increased his lend, while Lucas made a strong effort. Ewing, who was then third, rode into second place in the straight, and after a splendid finish suffered defeat by about a wheel, while Lucas was about a length further back. M'Millan finished fourth.
