ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
VEHICLES INSUFFICIENTLY LIGHTED Tho adjourned inquest was completed at Christchurch on Saturday into the death of Mrs Elizabeth Esther Bowman, who was kill-vi when a car driven by her husband collided with a cart, tho shaft of which penetrated the windscreen, striking Mrs Bowman in the chest. It was stated in evidence that the cart had no lights, and that the lamps of the car were defective, and after burning dimly, went out half a mile from where tho accident occurred. The Coroner, in hie verdict, stated the cause of death, and added that neither car nor cart had sufficient lights.—Press Association. FALL FROM WINDOW. Mr J. B. Andrews, an ex-mayor of Napier, and a delegate to the Bower Boards’ _ Conference, fell from a bedroom window in the Grand Hotel at Wellington on Friday morning, his injuries necessitating his removal to the hospital. Ijhe injuries are serious, his head and pelvis being fractured. He is doing as well as can be expected. - Press Association.
