ST. KILDA BAND

A very fine concert was given by the St. Kilda Band and assisting artists at tlio Princess Theatre last evening, the theatre being comfortably filled. Mr M. O’Sullivan was given a fine reception, and responded to a decided encore, singing 1 Invictus,’ Mrs O’Sullivan playing the accompaniments. Miss Hay Stubbs contributed to the success of the concert by singing * Because,’ with full band accompaniment, and bad to respond to a double encore, her lino soprano voice ringing out in all three pieces over a beautiful organlike accompaniment by the band. Miss Roberta Williams gave a. very line rendition of ‘ Pennarby Mine,’ and was enthusiastically recalled for a double encore. The ‘ Battle Eve ’ duet by Messrs W 7. Strang and Geo. Ansell was a treat, and the large audience were hot lacking in showing their appreciation of a fine effort. Miss Whelan was the accompanist. Mr Dixon is to be complimented on the playing of the band.
