WAR DUELS RECALLED
BRITISH AND GERMAN AIRMEN DINNER PARTY IN LONDON. LONDON, July d. One of the strangest dinner parties ever held in London was given last evening, when Colonel W. A. Bishop, V.C., the famous British aec, entertained eight famous German airmen, including several with whom ho had fought bitter air duels during tho World War, Sitting in evening dress, placidly smoking cigars, the former enemies recalled their war experiences, and recounted, like sportsmen describing famous “bags,” the number of enemy machines to their credit,
“They did not speak boastfully, however,” says tho ‘Daily “hut with professional interest.” Colonel Bishop confessed to no lower than seventy-two ’planes, while tho best record among the Germans was thirty-six, that of Captain Bolle, leader of the famous Boelcko squadron. Bolle, a jovial, fresh-coloured, cleanshaven, youthful airman, ..eemed to find a great bond of friendship in the fact that he and Bishop recalled a light they had together
