Mr and Mrs Bruce Carter, who live in a Los Angelos flat, -are seeking £B,OOO damages (or personal injuries following the buying of a fold-up bed. They claim that they were quietly sleeping when the bed suddenly folded itself up and enclosed them securely in a stifling embrace. The inventor of the bed explained to the judge just how the patent worked, but the judge decided that a demonstration in court might he more, effective. Apparently tiie wife thinks, that she suffered the greater injury to her feelings, for she demands £7,000. Rut the husband will be content with £I,OOO.
