OTAGO HUNT CLUB
MEET AT GREEN ISLAND Tho Otago Hunt Club held a successful meet at Sea View, Green Island, on teet at Sea View, Green Island, on Saturday afternoon hunting over the properties of Messrs M. Stevenson, George Donaldson,' and R. Sim. The pack was sent away on the trail shortly after 3 in Mr Stevenson’s property, opposite the St. Clair golf house, the first jump being a good post and rail. Coming on up the hill the _ followers then crossed the road, and jumped u post and rail which brought them into Mr Donaldson’s property. This inmp always proves troublesome owing » the awkward take off, but all cleared it in good style. The trail then led the followers down into a gully, and on coming up the hill on the other side a post and rail on the top of the hill was lumped. Owing to a high fence having been erected in the next paddock, the followers had to come on to the road, and going along it for about 300yds, again entered Mr Donaldson’s property. Going on up the hill another post and rail was jumped, which brought the followers ori to a cross road. From there they entered Mr Sim’s property, where several good, stiff gorso hedges were negotiated by all in splendid style Considering tho soft state of the going the exhibition of jumping was exceedingly good, not a fall bojng recorded during the run. Ranui, who was out putting in his final qualification run before going north to compete at the Waimate and South Canterbury Hunt Club Meetings, jumped verv well.
