FIVE CLASSES OF WIVES
JAZZ LOVERS, NAGGERS, & BABY DOLLS The American man’s chances of getting an ideal wife are pretty slim if Mrs Clarence Goodwin’s survey is correct. She is o former president of tho Illinois Federation of Women’s Clubs, and she told Chicago women that of married women only three in ten made ideal wives. Her definition of “ideal was the woman who was a good home-maker. . , ' She poured ointment, however, on her wounding criticism ,by stating that most women would be good home-makers if they were given well-built kitchens stocked with labour-saving devices. Mrs Goodwin divided American wives into five clauses, with the following percent-ages:—Home-makers, 30; jazz lovers, 20; naggers, 15; drudges, 20; baby dolls, 15.
