PLAYED CAROS WITH "DEAD" MAN
ALLEGED INSURANCE FRAUD Matthew Graham, an insurance agent, was, at Wicklow recently, charged on several counts with having registered the death of fictitious persons and issuing death certificates with intent to defraud. It was stated that a sum of £2,000 was involved. According to the solicitor for the prosecution, Graham, who was agent for the Ilathdrura area, played cards on the night before his arrest with a mai> named Lawrence Fleming, whom he had registered as dead two months previous!ln one thinlypopulated area there were more deaths registered than there were inhabitants. It was alleged that accused got the policies from ignorant people and then registered them as dead, putting the insurance rooatf in his own pocket.' . _ The accused was remanded on Bti.
