The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Valley Lodge was held m the hall, A 1 bany street. P.G. Bro Jones presidmg over a fair muster of members. The meeting opened in mourning for a old member, Bro. J. Martin, who recently passed away. A motion ol condolence was carried. An invitation was received to attend a valedictory gathering to Permanent Secretaiy Bro. A. WylTe at Port Molyneux on June 2-i. Correspondence was received in connection with the efficiency shieldl competition, and it was decided that the lodge enter for this competition. At the close Of lodge business the P P G M entertained members _ uj means’of a card evening, the pmewinners being Bro. M Donald and P.D.G.M. Bro. Young. ■ , The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Hand and Heart Lodgo_ was laigely attended, the occasion being an official visit from sister lodges. I.G. Bio. Austin, in the absence pf the -N.L., presided over the meeting, and extended -a welcome to the largo number of'visiting/brethren and sisters. The Various city and suburban lodges were represented, and the District Executive was also present. The ordinary lodge business was first transacted, including the initiation of one new member, one candidate also being proposed for membership. It was resolved to enter for the efficiency shield competition, commencing on July i. ihe meeting then went into harmony, the following contributing to an enjoyable programmeßro. Johnston, in responding to the toast of the district officers, complimented the lodge, on the very line muster that evening, and stated that the membership campaign was proceeding satisfactorily, JJO new members having been initiated up to the end of May. Several returns had still to come in. P.P.G.M. Bro. Stabb ieferred to the aipproaching busy period of installations, and stated that the executive officers would welcome the assistance of members at these functions. He announced that he would be conducting the installation at the Loyal Centenary Lodge on Tuesday night. Prov. C. Secretary Bro. Hopcraft, Prov. Treas. Bro. Sligo, and P.D.G.M. Bro. Young also responded to the toast. Among visiting brethren was Bro. Jolly (Loyal Cromwell), who reported on the Central lodges, stating that the Upper Clutha and the newly-formed Loyal Cromwell Juvenile Lodges were making good progress. The N.G., Bro. Woodhead, presided over a good attendance of members at the. ususal meeting of Loyal Milton Lodge. Notification was received of the annual ball of the Loyal Dalton Lodge, and an invitation from tho Loyal Alexandra Lodge to attend a social function in honour of P.P.G.M. Bro. Wylie. The local 1.0.0. F. Lodge also enclosed tickets for a ball. A report of the recent initiation competition was received from the judges, Bros. Russell and Hutton, The nomination of officers for the ensuing term

It was decided to hold the half-yearly meeting and installation of officers on June 19. A clock was received from the Membership Campaign Committee and hung in the lodge room. The senior trustee, Uro. A Hart, reported on investing the lodge funds. The Loyal Alexandra. Lodge wrote extending an invitation to an evening to Per. Sec. Bro. Wylie. The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Dunedin Lodge was held on Thursday evening in the M.U. Hall, Stuart street, N.G. Bro. M'Coll presiding over a good attendance of members: and visiting brethren. Two candidates were initiated and a proposition for membership received. Tho lodge decided to enter for the efficiency shield competition. Business was quickly dealt with in order to enable the lodge to entertain members ■ and their lady friends at a progressive euchre tournament. The N.G. extended a welcome to a large number of visitors, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. At the conclusion of the evening the N.G. presented trophies to the successful players, tho ladies’ (prizes being won hv Mrs Smith and Mrs Carruthers, Bros. Landrobe and M‘Allan annexing the men’s prizes. Tho fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Prince of Wales Juvenile Lodge was held in the lodge room, Port Chalmers, when the N.G., Bro. B. Brown, occupied tho chair. A letter was received from P.G. Bro. Hey, of the Juvenile Council, regarding the efficiency shield, and giving the total number of initiations for tho current year. It was stated that four candidates had since been initiated. It was decided to enter a team for the quoits competition. The winner of the aggregate in the series of competitive games recently concluded was Bro. Anderson, the P.G.M., Bro. Johnston, presenting him with a pocket wallet. During the evening one new member was initiated and one candidate proposed for membership.
