FANCIERS’ SHOW

CHILDREN'S DAY The judging at the second day of the Otago Fanciers’ show was devoted to cats and children’s pets. CHILDREN’S PETS. Judge: Mr W. Been, The exhibits in this section, taken as a whole, were a rather poor lot. Tire outstanding exhibit was a pile cockerel in the name of A. Stevenson. This bird was worthy of being shown in the open class. There was a fair number of entries, but they were not up to the standard of recent years. Another fine exhibit was a pair of bantams by Joan Barclay. The lien was a splendid bird, and outweighed the faults of the cock. Of the pigeons a fancy pair shown by Jean Anderson were the best. The exhibits in this class were a good lot and true to type, but tho entry waa small. W. Hunt’s white female was tho best cat in the show. It was the only outstanding exhibit. Mrs Cameron’s neuter blue was also a good type of cat. Some of the cats were not entered in their right classes. Results: — White female, under 12 months.—W. Hunt 1. This cat was awarded the South Island championship for Persians over six months other than smoko, blue, or black, and also a trophy for the best cat or kitten in the show. Silver tabby, female, over twelve months. —W. Hunt 1 , Silver tabby, male, under twelve months.— Mrs Finnic 1. Blue female, under twelve months.— Rita Grimmet 1, J- Gubbins 2. Blue male, over twelve months.--Mrs J. Cameron 1. Black female cat, over twelve months.—Miss Hill 1. Any other colour female, over twelve months.—Miss Hill 1Neuter, smoke.—Mrs G. Moody 1. Still 1, Tho Crawford Cup for tho best bulldog in the show was won by Mr G. MTlartney’s Illawara Bold, nob Mr T. Berkla’s Hawera. Mr M'Cartney now wins the cup outright.
