ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
PLUCKY YOUTH. Robert M'Callum, aged sixteen, residing at Waotira (near Whangarcil, had noth bones of the left leg fractured and the left ankle dislocated as a result of a fall from a horse. Despite the pain, he struggled into the saddle and rode fourteen miles to a settler’s home, whence _ ho was conveyed by car to the Whangavei Hospital. He is progressing satisfactorily; —Press Association, CHILD KNOCKED DOWN. A Blenheim Association message states that a girl, nine years old, Jane Allen, when returning home from school, was knocked down by a motor car. yesterday ,and taken to hospital with a fractured skull and other injuries. She is expected to recover. DEATH FROM BURNS. M. Maloney, the victim of Tuesday's burning accident' at Tuai, died in the hospital at an early hour this morning. The deceased, an employee of the Dunedin’ Engineering and Steel Company, was engaged in painting the inside of the big;pipe-line, slipped and knocked over a benzine lamp, widen set fir© to the paint inside.
