CANCELLATION OF MATCHES

“ Here is an extraordinary letter from tho Wanganui Union,” remarked tho secretary at a meeting of tho Bush Rugby Union Management Committee. The letter was as follows; —“As a result of information received from our Rangitikei Sub-union to tho effect that your union has intimated its intention of cancelling the arrangements for the match Bush v. Rangitikei. lam instructed to advise you that my union in turn cancels its match with your union fixed for July 26 at Wanganui.” The Secretary said that Bush went to Rangitikei and lifted the Bebbington Shield. It took Rangitikei four years to return the game, and it only did so last year. Tho Chairman said that _ Wanganui was getting a bit above itself. “They'll ‘whip the cat’ afterwards.” ho added. A member remarked: “We can write them and point out the number of times we have been to Rangitikei, and tlie time it took Rangitikei to return tho match. If they still feel inclined to cancel the match wo are willing.” (“Hear, hear.”) Tho letter was received. The match, which was to have been the last on the proposed northern tour in July, will be cancelled.
