MATTERS OF INTEREST DISCUSSED Tlic monthly meeting of the Otago Motor Club was held in the club rooms last night, when Mr A. E. Ansell presided over a fay* gathering of members. Col> RESPONDENCK. Mr I*. K. Harman, secretary of the South Island Motor Union, wrote regarding the question of a monthly journal for the union. Ho was anxious that the Otago Club Committee instruct its delegates to the quarterly meeting how to vote on the matter. A well-established and reputable firm of printers and publishers was prepared to undertake the publication of a highclass monthly journal and forward post free one copy each month to every member of associations a ltd chibs affiliated to the Soiitl,i Island Motor Union upon payment of a subsidy of Id per month per member Irom associations. —lt was decided to fall hi with and support the proposal. This was particularly desirable as far as_ country incbers were concerned, as it would enable them to know what was going on. Mr W. B. Steel, secretary of the Otago Expansion League, wrote inviting a representative of the club to be present at the annual prcsossional meeting of the Otago members of Parliament, and asking that if the club had any matters it wished to bring forward to notify him.—Mr Ansell was instructed to attend the meeting. Mr A. L. Burk, town clerk of Green Island, wrote applying for two signs—- “ School, drive slowly”—to be erected on the main road in the vicinity of the Concord School. —Granted. Mr A. Wilson, secretary of the Flag Swamp School Committee, asked to be supplied with two danger discs to be erected on the road near the school. — Granted. Mr G. A. Lcwin, town clerk, advised that the Willard Battery Company had undertaken to remove the sign on the North road to which objection bad been taken.—Noted. • Mr W. J. M'Gouigal, Miller’s Flat, wrote asking if the club could bring pressure on the county councils concerned to remedy the excessive camber on graded roads. In some eases, ho pointed out, the camber was so steep that anywhere except the middle of the road was unsafe in wet weather.—Mr Williams suggested that the local_ authorities concerned should be written to drawing attention to the specifications of the Main Highways Board regarding the size of the camber, and asking that these should ho adhered to. , Mr W. H. Lyons wrote asking if a danger sign could bo erected an electric light pole in Sidcy street, Caversham, at a bad corner, where be considered there was considerable danger. He also suggested that some pressure might be brought to bear on the City Council, to have the road widened'—lt was decided that the City Council should be written to on the lines suggested. GENERA L. Mr G. T. Thorne brought up the question of the education of school children concerning the danger of street traffic. Ho thought the club should take up this matter and approach the Education Board. It was time something should be done to educate children along these lines. Air H. Holliday outlined liio activities of the club in the past few years, and moved that a deputation should wait on the Education Board and bring before it the matter of the education of children ou the danger of modern traffic. Mr Thome seconded this motion, which was carried. , , Mr C. Mackay referred to the bad state of the mam road from Maitland street to the top of the rise, and also from the car terminus to the top of Look-out Point. This was the main road into the city, and it was a had advertisement in its present condition. Ho would like the dub to agitato to see if something could not be done to have the road put in order. Ho moved that the City Council should he written to in this direction.—This was agreed to. NEW MEMBERS. Twenty-seven new motorists were admitted "to membership during the month.
