overseas visitors expected
Steps are being taken by the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to secure a visit from noted overseas athletes next season, and it is already certain that one of the world’s leading athletes will willingly make tho trip to New Zealand if no is asked. Tho council, Ljwevcr, is not issuing dny definite invitation until it receives word from Mr Amos, manager of the New Zealand team tor the Olympic Games, who is to sound various noted athletes on tho question of making a tour to the dominion. The name of Lloyd Hahn was mentioned, and the proposal that a British team shoujd bo invited to New Zealand was also made. Some members considered that this should be adopted if the best men were available. The Chairman (Mr R. W. M'ViJly; expressed the opinion that, whether or not tho athletes were world’s champions, they would be a big draw in New Zealand. A possible member of the team from England would be Lord Burgh ley. The American athletes—J. Kuoh (, field events), Charles Borah (college sprinter), Stanford (field events), and Harold Osborn (jumper)—were mentioned in n letter to the council from Mr C. G. Krogness. the council’s representative iu America.
