OTAGO ASSOCIATION Tho fortu.ightly meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Hockey Association was held last evening, Mr D. T. Woodfield occupying the chair. As there were three vacancies on the senior Selection Committee nominations were taken to fill them, the following being appointed :■ —Messrs H. Sew Hoy, H. F. Payton, and J. Starr. Some discussion took place as to whether a sole selector or a selection committee should be appointed for the juniors. It was finally resolved that a selection committee would be preferable, and the following were appointed: —Messrs C. Sew Hoy, G. iVming, and J. G. Anderson. A letter was received from the South Canterbury Hockey Association accepting the senior and junior matches proposed by the Otago Association.—The Chairman said that both fixtures would be played on tho same tour, either at Timaru or Geraldine, and the senior team would proceed to Christchurch after the South Canterbury match, while the junior team would return to Dunedin to play the Canterbury juniors.—It was decided that the senior team would play South Canterbury on August 30, and Canterbury on September 1, subject to the approval ot these associations.

The Secretary of the Waikato Association wrote in connection with the dispute over increasing the boundaries under its jurisdiction.—lt was resolved to leave tho matter in the hands of Otago’s delegate to tho New Zealand Association (Mr Goodman). Mr Goodman wrote notifying the association that Canterbury had rescinded its motion passed some time rgo in regard to barring the hooking of sticks, as it was illegal under the New Zealand Association’s rules to pass such a motion.

A letter was received from tho secretary of the Otago Football Association aslang tho Hockey Association to appoint a delegate to join with delegates from the Rugby football, Association football, and Rugby League in order to form a deputation to the Reserves Committee to obtain a reduction in grounds rents.—The matter wms left to ;Vfr H. F. Payton to attend to. Mr J. Hams' reported that a player named W. Davies. w 7 ho was injured in the raaten Technical Old Boys v. High School Old Boys, had been in the Dunedin Hospital ever since, and Mr Harris appealed to the association for assistance.—lt was decided to place the matter before the Social Committee to devise some means whereby funds could be raised to assist Davies.

The Secretary said that Mr Payton had renorted that tho Moray P.lace School fiad formed a club, and a Training College player had agreed to act as coach to the club. Mr Payton had also informed the school that tho association would pay half the cost of the expenses of tho new team in accordance with its promise to tho Otago State Primary Schools Sports Association, and ho had negotiated to obtain a lino of sticks from Christchurch.—The committee approved of Mr Payton’s action .

Mr N. Edsou, iu referring to (ho success of the Otago University hockey team, which won all its matches at the intcruniversity tournament, said that five Otago men had played for the New Zealand Universities’ team against the Wellington representative team, and he considered that the play in Dunedin was at least on a par with that in the north.
