POLICE SEARCHING FOR ENGLISHMAN DEAF MUTE TO BE RELEASED. Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright PARIS, May 21. (Received May 22, at 10.45 a.m.) As the outcome of an important statement obtained from a resident, who says he saw a man running into bushes at the scene of tho Wilson murder, the police are now searching for an Englishman of whom they have a detailed description. It is believed that Vandro has established his innocence, and may ho released to-day.
Mr Wilson was formerly managing director of the Iron and Steel Company, Cumberland. Mrs Wilson before her marriage lived in Wiltshire, and was a well-known West Cumberland buntswoman.—Australian Press Association.
POLICE THEORY. LONDON, May 21. (Received May 22, at 1,10 p.m.) A Paris paper says that the police arc now of the opinion that the Wilson murder may not have been a mere brutal crime, but the climax of an encounter with a personal enemy.
