( Received May 3, at 10 a.m.) Mr Jehu Brown, a wealthy coal owner had a conference with the miners’ officials, and warned them of an impending upheaval without an equal iu the history of the State, forecasting that a strike would precede it. Ho added; “We must get back to the 1914 rates if we are to compete with Victoria’s brown coal. I warn you that there will be only two mines working in the Newcastle and Maitland fields two years from now. Have it working or striking, whichever you like, but you will have to take it.”-
