TEA FIGHTS NEWEST FAD
American society's newest fad at Palm Beach, Florida, is drinking tea to the accompaniment of tne thudding blows of pugilists. The most fashionable places have a ring pitched in the centre of flowery gardens with tea tables around. Here the smartest gather and chat and smokes while willing bouts are staged for their entertainment. Instead of the results of the lights being reported in the approved style in the sporting pages of the newspapers, they now parade in the most polite language in the society columns. The victor of a recent bout was chronicled as a “ marcelled blonde who gained a majority of points with left-hand blows to his opponent’s chin.’’ Then followed half a column of “ those present ” and a detailed account of the frocks “chosen for the occasion.”
