PICNICS

GROCERS The fo rty-fonrth annual grocers’ picnic was held at Waikouaiti on Saturday. The morning was dull at first, but at the seaside resort it was bolter, and everyone was enabled to spend a happy time in the open. The children especially were well catered for, there being no lack of sweets and toys, There was a largo programme of events, and the committee ran off the programme without a hitch, Messrs W. Hennick, C. Fraser, and A. Mond deserving special mention. The thanks of the committee are due to the Waikouaiti Jockey Club for the use of its grounds, which made an excellent picnic and sports ground.
