Wheat. —The market at tho opening of the season was linn, but with the advent of increasing supplies prices have weakened, and Tuscan is now being neglected. Hunters and Velvet varieties are still sought alter. Wheat -mowers are having a splendid harvest, but with not quite tho area ot last year down, although the deficiency is expected to be made up with tho increased good yields. There seems to be plenty of Tuscan available, and values lor this may still decline a little. Quo or two lines ot Otago Central wheat have been scon on the market, which was earlier than expected; hut threshing is not yet general. Good whole fowl wheat, ex last season’s stocks, lor prompt delivery, is inquired lor at up to 6s Gel, ex ti tick. Potatoes.—A good quantity ot potatoes is slit coming to hand, ami it is very difficult to effect sales. The majority of tho consignments arc showing blight, and good'tables arc worth £5 10s per ton, sacks in. Chaff—Supplies have been on the light side, but on the other hand the demand is limited, and as no shipping business is being done local feeders only are interested. There docs not appear to be much chaff in the Otago district, but Canterbury chaff will soon be available, and values are not expected to harden. Best quality is saleable at £5 ss, ex truck.
